As I got on the plane today to leave Denver for Minneapolis, I received the best sort of send-off gift; I was on the front page of the Daily Camera and I was featured in an article in the Broomfield Enterprise.  For some this might be a nothing special, but for me this is an event to write home about! Well… it would be if my family didn’t already receive the newspapers!  But none the less, I walked on to the plane with a front-page buzz and it continued on throughout the day.

I got in to the hotel and was immediately greeted by a crowd of fellow Colorado Republicans and handed my credentials, plus a gift bag full of goodies.  Now I don’t know about the rest of the world, but I love getting free goodies.  My favorites of the pack?  The Republican Macaroni and Cheese, and the Patriotic Cowboy shirts top the list.  (Don’t worry, I will post photos when I wear the shirts)

Finally, the day ended with one heck of a party.  It all began with an early premier of the movie An American Carol.  It’s a re-telling of one of Charles Dickens’ greats; the story of Scrooge.  Except in this version Scrooge is played by one Michael Monroe AKA Michael Moore.  The film is quite funny.  Let’s just say if you don’t like Moore’s movies, you will love this.  It provides the solution to the Michael Moore problem, although if you are sensitive, beware - this movie does its best to be as politically incorrect as is humanly possible.  That being said, everyone should go see it on Oct. 3rd when it comes out!

After the movie, the party moved next door to the Minnesota CIVICFEST featuring famous American documents and antique campaign buttons, a replica oval office where you can be sworn in as President, gowns worn by first ladies and finally, a very detailed White House replica complete with furniture and wallpaper.  I wish I had that for a doll house; just think of the conversations you could have with those dolls!  There would be a Laura Bush ’Barbie’ Doll and George W. Bush ‘Ken’ Doll.  Complete with Cabinet members and the Presidential Book of Secrets.   Accessories not included.

And there was one particular aspect of CIVICFEST that I would be remiss if I did not include.  The Shopping!!!!  There were all sorts of vendors there selling everything from handmade jewelry, Republican wear, books signed by the authors, games and of course everything John McCain.  While my funds are limited, I did manage to add a couple of pieces to my collection of elephant necklaces!

My new delegate badge as well as a new elephant necklace for my collection and a Colorado State painted coin necklace.
